Ni-Base Superalloys are Required. in Turbine Applications Where Superalloys are More Common, Their Microstructure is Normally Carefully Tailored Through Many Heat Treatments but Such Heat Treatments are Nearly Impossible in Power Plant Construction. This Leaves Weldments of Candidate Superalloys Without Their Nominal Strength and with Significant Residual Stresses. This Combination can Lead to Premature Failure and MY Work Investigated the Effects of Different Heat Treatments on Candidate Alloys and Their Resistance to Such Failures. Show Less
