While i have Decided on A Future in the Private Sector and Put Such A Degree on Hold, Much of the Value Vs. Traditional College Education was A Group Distraction-Free Mind-To-Mind Academic Culture of 30 &Amp; 40-Somethings with Diverse and Substantive Career Experiences to Share. i Received A'S in All Three Courses. Amherst College was A Godsend for Me, After Growing UP in A Cloistered Non-Mormon, Liberal Academic Bubble in Salt Lake City. Sure, Amherst was its Own Bubble of Sorts, but the First Day at Our President'S Reception i Found Myself Talking to Freshman from Brazil, Germany, and Malaysia. i Discovered at Once the Cultures of the East Coast, Midwest, and Many Countries. Our Class, at 418, was the Largest in Amherst'S 164-Year History and Smaller Than MY Senior High School Class. with Little Core Curriculum, Political Science and Philosophy Most Attracted Me, but Courses in Many Subjects &Amp; at Smith and Hampshire Colleges Beckoned, and i Regret but 2 of 33. the Best Decisions i Made were Attending MY Truman Scholar Interview Despite A 103-Degree Fever and Studying Abroad in Costa Rica. the Former Yielded $28k in Tuition; the Latter Gave ME MY Thesis Topic and Introduced ME to the Wonder of Latin America. Graduating Magna Cum Laude from Amherst as A Truman Scholar Opened Many Doors. Show Less
